hoses in GTV6 fender?

So there's this lovely GTV6 on eBay at the moment

if anyone's interested) and I noticed in this picture

that there are two hoses in the engine compartment disappearing into 
the fender area.  This portion of my car was missing when I got it, 
and has subsequently been fabricated by me.  Now I'm wondering if 
there should have been some hoses doing something in that area.  I 
can't say I'm too concerned, as it's been several years and 25,000 
miles and the car hasn't exploded or anything, but I was just 
wondering what these hoses did and if they should be present on my 
'82.
