RE: W&D rear swaybar

No I didn't measure the angle, but since the fit was loose, it didn't
really matter since the geometry would change with the motion of the
suspension anyway. The endlinks simply push up and pull down on the bar
ends and some rotation is inevitable as the suspension moves up and
down. Right now I'm not using a rear sway bar -- the sway bar end links
are sitting on my workbench and the sway bar itself is tucked up and
held out of the way with some cable ties. Less wracking on the nerves
than hearing "Whaanggg" when the bar slips out of the end link. :-) The
last time it happened, it happened to She-Who-Must-Be-Obeyed and She was
NOT amused. The body mounts are just a little too far inside to keep
the bar laterally located and it can move around side to side just
enough.

I like the cotter pin/washer idea. A few minutes with a MotoTool should
trim those inside bushings down in no time and removing the bar itself
is not hard. Drilling the holes is likely to be the toughest part.

Bill,
I've run into this problem on two W&D rear swaybar installations
I've done. I filed down the inner bushing to where it was flush with
the outer bushing for more clearance on the swaybar end. I drilled a
hole and put in a cotter pin along with a largish washer to hold things
together.  So far they haven't come off....;-}

I have tested both aftermarket and Alfa OEM bushings for proper
fit when doing this. The bushings were an interference fit on the stock
bar but not on the W&D unit. I think that W&D bars just are not
machined to the correct diameter on the ends. But this means it is an
easier fit than trying to press the bushings on at the correct angle.
You did remember to measure the angle didn't you before you took it
apart ???
