164 Windshield Replacement

Hi all,
I am replacing a windshield on a 164. I got a used windshield in excellent
condition but was no allowed to watch them pull the windshield. My question
is: is it necessary to purchase a new surround moulding or can the old one be
recycled? Any advice is appreciated. I looked at the shop manual and it is not
obvious that new trim is required.
