Seat Problem

Hi 
I was moving the passenger seat forward in my '91 Spider Vel. the other
day and the thing came off in my hand and now I can not get the seat
back,  the handle back on nor get the seat out to fix it.  Any ideas?
No one of adult size can ride on that side and I don't have any children
to ride with me.
