TonyC, the easiest way I've found to remove the head on any Alfa is to thread 
rope into the cylinder through the spark plug hole.  Do this for either #1 
and #4 or #2 and #3.  Then rotate the motor (by hand!).  As the pistons come 
up, the rope will lift the head free from the block.  By the way, I've never 
heard that the head gaskets were "bonded".  I doubt that is the case.  When 
replacing the gasket, just make sure you have good o-rings, preferably with 
roll pins for the oil passages.  

Anyone have an easier method?
