Water in Heater Fan

I have a 93' spider, which is in very good shape.  However, every time I get
into a rain storm, which is often here in Florida, I get water coming out of
the bottom of the fan housing on the passenger side of the car.  I think the
water comes in from the fresh air vent in the front of the hood.  Does
anyone have any experience with this problem and, if so, how did you fix it.
