Re: Alfa and Ferrari

>>OTOH, I see Fiat as being where Alfa was in the late '80's. A moribund
automaker with few compelling products even for its own home market. <<

Not so sure. OK, the Coupe has died and the Barchetta is getting old,
but the Stilo is fresh and is apparently selling well (beating the sales
of the Bravo / Brava). Sure it is a different car to older Fiats, but that
was almost certainly deliberate. After all the traditional Fiat markets
were disappearing so they built a VW to grab some of the Golfs
market

As to nobody dreaming of a Fiat (as accused by the Italian premier),
the same is true of just about all mass market manufactures. Who
dreams of a Peugeot, Renault, VW, Rover, Toyota, Nissan or
any number of other major makes. The only ones who will have
people dreaming about them are the premier makes such as
BMW, Alfa and the like

All the best
