Was: '88 Spider being auctioned, Santa Clara, CA

Follow-up to my posting below: The car went for a little over $3K, including
commissions. It was an original San Francisco car with only 38K miles.
Allegedly runs fine with a registration that expired this past february.
Decent red paint and a new canvas top. Listed as 1986, not the previous
1988.

Downside? A truck or SUV gave it a big gash in the hood. A below-the-mirror
surprise when some fool was backing up. There was a repair estimate in the
glove box for about $2K.

Not a good buy IMHO.
