Giulia sedan in Cannonball race

I'm reading Brock Yates' new Cannonball book right now, and was surprised to
see in the results of the 1972 race that a Giulia sedan finished fifth,
going cross country in 38 hours, 37 minutes, driven by Richard Jenkins and
Bob Rost. Average speed 75.5 MPH, compared to the winning Caddy that year,
which finished in 37:16 at 78.04 MPH. That's really moving, especially
because the race that year had a nasty wet storm covering the eastern half
of the US. Anyone know that car or those guys?
