164 problems & noises

Hi!
     i've bought 2 164s, both well over typical costs for
     their types, & spoke a lot with their owners & mechanics
     before buying.  of course i've still had to fix things,
     or get them fixed, i pretty much expect 1000 - 2000 per
     year per car.  U pretty much have to expect that, as they
     not surprizingly have somewhat expensive parts, and
     mechanics familiar with them are rare.  while i may get
     a little pissed at the time of an unexpectedly expensive
     fix, overall it's not too much to pay for such a good car,
     or i shouldn't have one.  or certainly not 2!

     i was having squeaky noises from up front, replaced shocks,
     then heard the ball joint sounds, then found the worn out
     motor end bushing on the upper motor mount, it was the worst,
     i could shake the top of the motor & it would make strange sounds.
     all inexpensive repairs, except the shocks!
