RE: 2L rev limit

I always understood the rev limitation on Alfa 2L motors to be valve float
due to the weight of valves. Switching to heavier springs wont help.
That would just create backlash to the cam and shatter the followers.

The answer I've always gotten is titanium lightweight valves to increase
redline. According to Gary Valant, the effective redline for stock valve
float is 8000 rpm. There are plenty of racers out there that have taken
the Borgo pistons to 10k with the appropriate valve train.

I heard in conversation at recent OVAROC Fall Fest, that quoted Don Black as
saying that "Alfa used 4000 ft./min piston speed as the limit for its
engines. That calculates to 7000 rpm for 1750 and 2000 engines."
