Oil changes and anality

Oil changes are not religious rituals. Oil filters have tons of surplus capacity for solids. You change the oil because of chemicals developed in old oil, the dirty bits are nothing unless you really ignore the rules.

Folks, the first time you fire up the engine after an oil change is when the most damage gets done to your engine due to NO OIL PRESSURE to begin with. The tiny amount of dirt and chemicals left in the residue of old oil don't amount to a hill of beans.

Change the oil as per the manufacturer's recommendations and use whatever they say is OK. I use synthetic ONLY because in harsh winter conditions it can't be beat for cold cranking. Otherwise, I'd use good conventional oil.

Geez, give me a break, I agree that oil changes are very personal but leave the turkey baster for artificial insemination only please.
