Spelling bees and SUvees (was: OSI)

While collating the remains of the OSI thread I noted a small discrepancy; I,
quoting d'Amico & Tabucchi's note on the Alfa 2600 De Luxe, spelled the
company name "Officine Stampaggi Industriali". Jack Koobs de Hartog, quoting
Angelo Tito Anselmi's "Carrozzeria italiana -cultura e projetto" spelled it
"Officina Stampaggi Industriali". John de Boer, in his Etceterini Register,
spelled it "Officine Stampaggio Industriali". I am reminded of one of the
footnotes in T.E.Lawrence's "Seven Pillars of Wisdom"; a proofreader sent
Lawrence a complaint that he had spelled the name of a certain favorite
she-camel three different ways, and Lawrence sent back a note saying "She was
a good beast." Eric Storhok, responding to my raised eyebrow on his spelling
Turin, or Torino, "Turino", very reasonably replied "Potato, Potaato....",
which might well serve as an epitaph for Western Civilization As We Knew It.

Verifying the spelling of Officin(?) Stampagg(?) Industrial(?) in "Carrozzeria
italiana -cultura e projetto", I noticed that the list of OSI vehicles ended
with "le fuoristrada Cross Country e Weekend" - two Italian S.U.V.s of some
forty-five years ago, probably designed by Ghia, following the Italian
Anglophile naming convention recently discussed about "Spider", Sprint",
Super" and the like. FWIW- undoubtedly next to nothing, if that -
