164 Start Consent Switch?

Alfisti,

I am having difficulties starting my 164, which I think is being caused
by the start consent switch.  Let me explain my troubles and y'all can
help me out.

When I turn the ignition key with the car in park, nothing happens. 
Now, when I take the gear selector and run it through the gears (up and
down) and then turn the ignition, the car normally starts.  Now it is
getting even more difficult.

My question: is the start consent switch bad?

I have scanned through my 164 manual and cannot find where the start
consent switch replacement procedure is described.  I have found where
the problem is discussed in the "M" section (16-60) of the
Troubleshooting Procedures in the Automatic Transmission chapter.

If this is in fact the problem, can someone please inform me where I
can find the replacement procedure in the manual or describe how to do
it without the manual.
