Re: CLOSET SUV Owners

I've got to admit that I don't 'get' SUVs. Aside from people who honestly have a reason (or just enjoy) going off-road, or need to tow a boat or a car trailer - a lot, I cannot see for the life of me why anyone would want one. Offhand, I'd say less than 1 out of 100 are ever used for either purpose. The consensus at the NHSA is that SUVs are the most unsafe vehicles on the road today (they kill 7-10,000 American motorists a year). They handle poorly, they will turn over if you look at them wrong and when they do, the tops crush all the way down to seat level. They get lousy gas milage, and to top it all off, they have far less useful space in them than, say, a Volvo station wagon. If you ask people why they like them, you mostly get answers like "They're nice" and "Everybody's got one." ?????!!!!!

Subject: CLOSET SUV Owners

Isn't it interesting that all these closet SUV owners are crawling out of
their holes? Has something happened that I missed to legitimize the
ownership of these Battlestar Galacticas? Maybe, when everyone was getting
there Alfa ownership reports analyzed a while back, the results would have
been different had they admitted having a family truckster.
Poor little Alfa trailing behind one of these things belching out trunk like
quantities of half burned fumes--it's a wonder we can get them to run at
all....
