RE: 1600 bellhousing onto a 2000 tranny



If you can't find the special seal, the most straightforward way to do what
you want to do is to use the input shaft from the old 1600 tranny in the
2-liter gearbox. This does require splitting the case, but since you're
changing the bellhousing anyway, it's not that big a deal.

Once you've split the case, lift the countershaft and then the mainshaft
out. The input shaft will slip right off.

If you can find the special seal, I'd like to know what it is. All my spare
gearboxes are from 2-liters!
