Removing Rear Brake rotors on spider?
Thanks to tips from the digest, I've confirmed that the passenger side
wheel bearing needs replacement on my '73 spider. The first step is to
remove the brake rotor, but the darn thing is stuck on the axle hub.
I've removed the brake caliper, completely backed off the emergency brake
shoes on that side, and removed the two screws that hold the brake disk to
the axle hub.
Any tricks to get that **** thing off? I've applied lots of penetrating
oil at the studs and screw holes. This is not the first time I've done
this repair, and had trouble getting the rotor off the last time. If I
recall correctly, I ended up bending the rotor through the various
machinations in getting it off.
So far, I've not really bashed the crap out of it with a sledge
hammer...yet. Seems like a slide hammer type tool would work. tips??
Thanks, // kct, Powell, TN
