Help-Speedo conversion on GTV 6 after instal of Milano transaxel

I just purchased a 1982 GTV 6 (Bolocco) with a Milano Platinum transaxel (with lsd). I'm now trying to deal with the speedometer. The car came with the Milano amplifier and sender and a new 85 or 86 GTV 6 speedometer. After putting everything together my speedometer registers 140mph at about 30mph.

On the GTV 6 site there was an article on this procedure. It went on to say that the best way to deal with this was to take the guts of a Milano speedo and insert it into the GTV 6 housing.

I'd really like to get advice (on or off the digest) from someone who has performed this procedure or from someone who has dealt with the speedo conversion in a different way.
