yet another data point in the guessing game - in the latest issue of 
Automobile, there is an article w/, re Wolfgang Rietzle's (director of Ford's 
"Premiere Auto Group") departure from Ford. States there that he was 
recruited very heavily by Bob Lutz to join GM because they exected to have 
the Fiat Auto buyout completed by the end of the year.
"...that Lutz offered Rietzle a chance to jump ship.  In the first step of 
this proposed defection to GM, Rietzle would have been asked to run Opel and 
Saab and sometime later, possible Fiat.  ......  In the course of the 
preliminary talks, it became clear that GM intends to take over Fiat this 
summer." 
Well, they're late.
