73 GTV 2000 windshield removal

Hi,
I have just bought a 73 GTV and need to remove the glued in windshield for a
respray. Could anyone give me any pointers? I assume from the little bits my
searches have retrieved that the rubber basically has to be cut off and
replaced with new rubber afterwared? Any suggestions for where to get that
type of replacement rubber? I plan to refit the glued in windshield since I
have it (rather than the earlier type) unless anyone in the Houston/Texas area
has an earler windshield for sale....?
