Fellow Alfa folks,
I have a big problem with a '86 Spider Veloce. The reference point contact
that reads the position of the fly wheel fell off the tranny! That within
it's self wouldn't be too bad, but... the screw hole on the bell housing of
the tranny rounded out and I live in South Carolina and there is no
mechanics here who will touch the car.
I used some J.B. Weld to plug the screw hole and let it half set and ran the
screw in and out. I got it to stay in, for awhile.
The thing came out again and banged on the bell housing and dented. The last
time I tried to put it back in, I got a good grind, like a bad starter. I
guess my question is.. should I start with a new contact, and then try
pulling the starter, or do you think I ruined the fly wheel gear ring, and
should I put a new bell housing on the gear box, or try to get it tapped?
WHaaa, Whaaa, cry, cry. My babys sick.
Amanda, Myrtle Beach SC.
