wiring for ignition switch? (GTV6)

There are at least 2 bundles of wires exiting my steering column.  One
clearly couples at a connector block, the other is an insulated pair of
black wires running directly out of the ignition switch area.  These two
black wires recently managed to get disconnected, but all seems to run
well. 

Offhand, I'd say it must have been for some kind of erstwhile alarm
system, but without taking stuff apart, it's hard to tell. Plus, I'm not 
a little wary of *%^*ing something up while tampering with the fusebox
area.

Anyone know what I am talking about?
