Yes there is.  We all know all too well the problems
Alfa's can have with head gaskets.  I'm sure some of
this stems from poor maintenance, but poor-quality
aftermarket gaskets certainly don't help.  If you
compare them side-by-side, you'll see the difference.

After 8 years of Alfa ownership there are two things I
always source OEM.  Gaskets, and rubber bits
(suspension parts, motor mounts, etc).  In the past
I've received aftermarket pedal pads that just plain
didn't fit the pedals, and sway bar bushings that
failed within a week.  

When I rebuilt my 2L I used all OEM alfa gaskets,
since I don't want to pull that engine again anytime
soon.  If I have to do the job twice I'm not saving
much money...
