re: tea tray custom job

Or: Maybe they originally intended to put some sort of vented panel there and leave an appropriate hole in the insulation to keep the plenum (and the intake charge) cool. Or maybe just to help draw air across the (larger) V6 radiator.

I know some people have replaced it with a clear plastic panel, but don't
know what's become of the plastic after a time.

But at last: a chance for experimental verification of my theory: the purpose
of the plastic tea tray is to keep the heat off the plenum (which in fact
touches the insulation un der the hood) from destroying the paint of the hood
or the bounce and jounce of the engine from knocking dents in from the
bottom.

Please, replace the plastic with a slab of metal and report back here on what
happens over the course of time.
