Well, after all this discussion on the tea tray and its reason for being, I 
think that its original purpose was as a place to put your wine glasses while 
overlooking a fabulous Italian lake on a picnic with your signorina.  Of 
course in the good old US of A they would probably be beer cans-

I haven't followed this too closely so someone may have come up with
this already. I believe the sole purpose of the teatray was to provide,
at some time in the future, the subject of an interesting thread on the
Alfa Digest.
