No, manifolds don't have to come off.  Yes, it's a huge pain.  Bottom 
radiator hose will not drain all the coolant.  I *think* they're 
22mm, that's one of those things that I should write down but never 
actually do.  I get at them from above, with an extension on a socket 
wrench.
