76 alfetta gt fuel shut off solenoid?

My fuel pump stays on when in the pre ignition position, and the car backfires while decelerating. The second one according to the manual is a sure sign of a bad solenoid, and the first one just doesn't seem right. The problem is the manual does not show where the shut off solenoid is located.

 Can anyone help?
