Converting a left hand drive (European spec) 156 for use in the UK

Hi all,

I own a 156 bought in Germany and want to take it back (and register it) to 
the UK.
From the DVLC leaflets it seems I have to change the headlight units to UK 
standard and the speedometer must be calibrated with Miles per Hour as the 
primary units.

Does anybody have an experience of this change?

Can you simply swap the European standard speedometer unit with a UK 
standard unit with no other changes?
How difficult is it to change the speedometer?
Is there another way of getting MPH units onto the KPH speedometer?
Any advise on the headlights?

Any advice you can give would be most appreciated in this matter!
