Unlowering my Spider

Last spring I installed springs, shocks, bushing, bearings and just
about anything else that moved in my 89 Spider's suspension. The after
market springs I bought have resulted in the car sitting about 1" too
low and I'm getting tire rub when turning and experiencing severe
personal stress when going over bumps with visions of engine oil
trailing behind me!

I've been told I can install spacers in the spring pans to raise the
ride. Has anyone done this? What are your thoughts and if not negative
where can I get my hands on a set?
