Motronic pistons/RIP Kumhos trackwise

I put Motronics in my '72 Spider, with .020" milled head, 048 cams set with
the Braden doctrine for overlap, etc. and SPICA. Set the timing advance to
just-below-ping, drove it. I do not remember whether we used other-than-stock
rings.

It took seemingly forever---over 5,000 miles!--- for the rings to seat, but
when they did I knew; it started pinging on premium gas. Backed the timing
off about 3 degrees, and it is OK. More than OK, but we expect that of these
cars.

Last Saturday's track day finished off the Kumho Ecsta Supra 712's I'm
running, for track performance, although they should serve well for street
tires. At Portland Int'l Raceway, the resident wildfowl population around
turns 3-9 provides an literal comparison with greased goose sh*t. Warmed up,
the Kumhos now provide almost exactly the same traction. Lots'o fun, but not
The Fast Way 'Round. This is at about 8,000 miles total wear, 3 or 4 good
track days included.

BTW Track Day was plumb perfect, maybe a little warm in long sleeves top down.
Them of ye that didn't make it, it's a pity. We did a better mpeg which will
be posted, complete with sounds, on the AROO website in a week or two.
