  I had ordered a universal cat for my 79 spider. I had no problems at all.
I had left a couple of inches of pipe on the flange of the old one. Then I 
welded
the new one on the pipe. It bolted right on, I was very pleased with it.
Next week I go for a smog check, hopefully I pass.
