Berlina Sunroof
Mr. Hertzman's research is a lifeblood of our Digest, valued and trusted by
all of us. Yet, in the case of Alfa sunroofs he has not issued a fiat, and
thus, I would like to weigh in with my opinion, based on anecdotal evidence
and pure speculation, but without a shred of historical research.
My ex-Berlina (currently owned by fellow digester Mark Patterson) is a late
'71 1750 with an electric sunroof. When engaged (via an underdash switch,
right of the steering column), the sunroof slid open resting neatly inside
the rear portion of the roof.
It certainly is possible that the sunroof was installed by AR North America,
or the New Jersey dealer (at one time, the car also had air conditioning) or
perhaps an aftermarket specialist. Still, the quality of the installation
(including the matching interior headliner and exterior paint color) makes me
suspect that it was done either in the Arese factory or another Alfa
sanctioned facility.
Again, merely speculation on my part....
