re: Lighted GTV6 window switches?
hi all,
i know that my '86 gtwe6 has 'em, but i dunno if there's different wiring behind 'em or not. i *do* know that one of the 1st repairs i ever did on the car, back when i got it 7 years ago, was to go to rat-shack to find a mini 12v bulb to stick in there, to replace the burned-out bulb. and, as i recall, the orig bulb wasn't burned-out, it came un-soldered - seems that the solder does not wanna stick to the brass contacts. i ended up having to drill holes thru the contacts to stick the bulb wires thru, to get 'em to work. which is why i dint yust buy gnu switches - i figured if the problem was the contacts coming undone, i mite not fare any better w/gnu ones... the rat-shack bulbs run hotter than the stock issue, but not hot-enuff to melt the switches. i still drilled a tiny hole in the top of the rockers, to let heat out - the switches *are* a bit warm to the touch! ;~)
