Brake Lights

Experts,
need some pointers on problems with brake lights.
mine doesnt come on reliably.
Sometimes when driving on the highways, a light step on the pedel would light
it.
and sometimes the lights come on only when brakes are jammed.
does this mean that I have to change the switch?
Is there a way to make the switch more sensitive? like having some sort of
adjustment?
I'd very much prefer to have the brake lights come on with a light touch of
the pedal.

My car is a 1972 GT1600Jr with standing pedals.
i have 2 brake servos and i know that there is a switch in the engine
compartment under the brake vaccum pumps.

Thanks guys in advance
