Piston Liners

I am in the process of rebuilding my 2.0 for my 73 GTV and need some help.  
Is there a special tool for installing the piston liners?  (Alfa tool 
105.2many$$$)
Is there any other advice for liner installation?  BIG hammer?  Any advice 
would be much appreciated.
