Trickles

Marty S. asked:

"Can anyone recccommend a good brand of battery
tender/trickle charger?"

I've never heard of a BAD brand - the technology is so
well-established, and the necessary parts so cheap,
that the only real scandal is how much the damn things
cost ($30 and up). My brother-in-law and I pooled
funds to get papa-in-law a solar-powered one for his
seldom-used Citroen, and Philippe was so impressed he
bought one for his own MGA. At the other end of the
scale is the ancient one Pops had already, so old its
only controls are a switch for selecting either 6 or
12 volts, and whose cables are approaching
inflexibility. I still borrow it whenever the Berlina
needs a boost, and it works just fine.

I'd just go to Pep Boys or whatever, or better yet
Harbor Freight, and shop for price. You do have to
make sure it has overcharge protection, but I think
they all do now anyway.
