mechanic's caps

I wear a welder's cap when wrenching, which I think just
about exactly fits the aforementioned description.  It's a
light cotton cap with no brim, made in a couple of pieces to
fit closely to the head.  Welders wear them to keep sparks
and such out of their hair, and mine serves also to keep the
grease at bay.  Most welding shops probably carry these.
