Nick,

I had actually composed a lengthy and thoughtful
response about the implementation of the EXH light on
a wide variety of Bosch EFI systems contemporary with
your '84 Spider, which basically support your
observation -- Bosch foo-Jetronic systems tend to have
a mileage counter that trips a light, labeled EXH,
every 30,000 miles, to remind you to replace the
oxygen sensor.

Then I realized that Pat's Spider is a '79, and
therefore was NOT equipped by the factory with Bosch
EFI, but with Spica, an exhaust pump, and a catalyst.
I presume, Pat, that you pulled the exhaust pump as
well as the cat, yes?

I haven't yet been able to locate any info on what (if
anything) this EXH light signifies on Spica-equipped
Spiders, though it has prompted me to actually leaf
through the two books I acquired in the Great
Motorhome Caper.

One of them is very interesting: titled "Alfa Romeo
Training School Technical Data," it appears to be all
the secret mysterious Spica data for all
Spica-equipped Alfas, including a 3D map of the fuel
delivery curve, adjustments, etc. etc. etc.

And here I thought it was only useful for vanishing
when unwanted relatives showed up... :-)
