There are a lot more performance parts available for the Mini.  MiniMania in
California sells forced induction kits that would really make it into a
little screamer.  However, I don't think you can make a direct comparison
between the Mini and the GTV.  The Mini is British and the GTV is Italian,
and those little facts say a lot about both cars.  They're both cool in very
different ways.  The Mini is the ultimate sleeper, with a shape harkening to
a 4 year old's wall drawing.  Its the antithesis of beautiful, and that's a
big part of its charm.  The GTV stylistically is a work of art and looks
like its built for speed.  Its a car that would make Marty Feldman look
dashing.  Before you could decide between the two cars, you would have to
decide what it is you want out of a car.
