164 key button

Couldn't agree more about the 164 key button - annoying and what purpose
does it serve anyway?  Even worese is that while the push button/remove key
motion does become second nature, if I do mine too fast the car thinks the
key is still in the ignition and the "key in ignition with door open" chime
goes off - reinsert key, push buton, remove key (slooower this time
... ) --- oh well.  Now why is that button there, anyway?
