wierd brake noise/warped disk or bad caliper?
While I had my 90 Spider on jack stands the other day, I spun the front wheels
and heard a faint scratching sound. As the wheel turned I heard this sound
off and on. It was not a constant sound. I sounds like it is coming from the
brakes on both sides of the car. I immediately thought that perhaps the
rotors are warped a bit, but I don't feel any shuttering or vibration in the
brake pedal when braking. Then I thought maybe the calipers are not
retracting all the way? But if this was the case, wouldn't they drag on the
rotor all of the time? How do I check to see that the calipers are working
properly? Should I have the rotors turned? The pads seem to have plenty of
life still in them. It has been about 30,000 miles since I had one of the
calipers replaced. At that time the pads were replaced and I think (not
positive) that the rotors were turned. So what do you think?
Also, would those who have braided stainless steel brake lines share their
source? Has anyone had any custom made locally?
Thanks
