La Carrera - 11/1 report

I got this from Dianne Besic:

"As of last night, Patrick and Martin are still in 1st in class & 20th 
overall.  Mike said their second starter failed so they had to rebuild it out 
of parts from the other. The hotel they stayed at in Zacateca (sp?) has an 
old bull ring.  They took a lot of pictures and enjoyed the spectacular 
weather.
 
Today is the last leg of the race - a 400 mile stage to Neuvo Laredo, their 
final destination.  Initially they have a 200 mile transit into high 
elevation, so they will have to fatten up the carbs. Then its flat out to the 
finish line.

Mike called from a borrowed cell phone shortly after Martin and Patrick 
crossed the Finish Line.  Judging from the giddy laugh and the slurred words, 
I'm guessing he and the boys are feeling no pain.  He said everytime they 
turn around someone is putting another ice-cold Corona in their hands.  The 
place is just nuts.  Patrick was cruising the Carrera car around town, 
lighting up the tires at every stop. They were headed back to the hotel to 
get cleaned up and then go to the awards banquet to party and to find out how 
they placed.  Mike said if he can put two words together he will call later."

The suspense is killing me....
