In AD V8 #99 I wrote;

"If the noise is still there, put the clutch to the floor. Does the noise stop
now? If so, the noise is coming from somewhere in the drivetrain".

   This statement is for front mounted transmissions. If the car has a
transaxle, the driveshaft will continue to spin. So if the noise goes away
with the clutch pedal to the floor, suspect a transaxle related problem.
