Re: For Sale: Alfa Romeo 164S
Todd
I noticed you mentioned that you used distilled water when you flushed
the coolant in your 164S.
- - Coolant flushed at 34,800 miles (use only distilled water)
I always thought that distilled water was *only* for the battery. Using
distilled water to mix with the antifreeze was not good for the metalic
parts of the cooling system. This is because the distilled water
leaches
minerals out of the metal.
Could a chemist please clear up the mystery and either help save Todd's
164S or tell me that I'm the victim of an old shadetree mechanic's tale?
Thanks, Chuck Harget
