164 24V gas smell

Yup, it's an undocumented maintenance item (IMHO) on the 24V engines to replace the 2 rubber fuel rail hoses. See also the 164 Home Page for other owners that have had that problem. The nose knows...

Be careful you get the correct diameter hose if you go to the local discount parts shop. No reported fires, as of yet!

1995 164LS (new fuel rail hoses at 50K miles as a preventative measure)

Upon closer examination, there were a few cracks on the hose!

There's another similar hose at the other end of the fuel rail
near the accessory belts, which also has some cracks on it.

Car is a 95LS...  so if you have never replaced these 2 short hoses,
check their condition before they start leaking.
