Not only Ford. There has been a great hoo-haw about new VWs and Audis not 
being able to brake during this winter due to faulty rotors. They have 
made re-calls and are changing the brakes on all of them.

.. so it seems that even the Germans slip up from time to time.

Haven't heard about any Alfa recalls - but then again - they would 
probably ignore problems.
