Alfa Red Paint????

I have a 1987 Alfa Spider Quad which is Alfa Rosa.  It can use
some new paint on the nose and hood.  I have many options to
choose from, but I must know what kind of paint is currently
there so that the new paint will properly adhere.  Is it acrylic
enamel, lacquer, ????  Currently, it is a solid red color- not
metallic and there is no clear coat.  Also I am looking for a
high gloss, hard solid red paint so any suggestions are invited.

Any and all information would be greatly appreciated.
