Less sturdy SUVs???

I can't quite credit the recent post about SUVs. The problem with SUVs and
minivans is that they are not crash tested or safe in collisions. Making
SUVs "less sturdy" is not the plan. Making SUVs that have crumple zones
front and rear and side impact protection is the point. Adequate braking
and suspension systems would also be nice.Your basic SUV has about much
safety engineering in it as your basic 1950s Chevy Biscayne (if there was
such a thing). It really is pathetic to see North American auto buyers get
sucked into buying the same dangerous crap that got the highway safety
people into such a frenzy in the first place. For someone who appreciates
the fine engineering of an ALFA to fail to understand this is..frankly
upsetting.

As more SUVs crash into other SUVs we may finally get the public (those
remaining alive) to understand the magnitude of this deception of the auto
buying public. Criminal doesn't begin to describe what's going on in North
America.
