Randy:

I have never bought or sold anything through E-Bay, so I don't
have any direct experience. But my sense is that it would
depend on: a) where you live, and b) what it is you are selling.
If you are in an "Alfa-dense" area, such as one of the major
West Coast metropolitan areas, then selling via the local
AROC chapter's swap meets, or by placing an ad in the
club newsletter might be a lot simpler. Especially if you
are selling heavy/bulky stuff, like engines, transmissions,
differentials, ...

Ie, if you live in a remote area, you may not have any
local market for your stuff, and have to ship it to the
buyers. But, that imposes the risk of not getting paid,
risk of stuff getting lost/damaged in transit, and the
general hassle of having to crate the stuff up. If you
are selling a glove compartment door, the shipping
hassle/expense may not be a big deal. If you are
selling a rear end assembly, or a door ..... well, that's '
another story

I sort of hate to see E-Bay and the like take over the
ritual of carrying parts to club swap meets, or putting
ads in the local newspaper's "Cars and Parts" classified
section, because I derive a lot of enjoyment out of the
face-to-face aspects of buying and selling Alfa parts.
But, I guess that like internal combustion engines, and
people who work on their own cars, this person-to-
person stuff is going to go the way of the stagecoach.
