Newbie Spider driver needs advice

I've had a '77 spider with 175K miles on it (bought at 126K) for eight years
now, and I wouldn't say it feels really tight (I'm wishing for new bushings,
steering box), but it corners flat and I don't feel any less safe in it than
in my '97 VW Golf. And hey, it's 22 years old and has 175K miles. 
I think the easiest way to tell would be to have an experienced spider
driver go for a ride with you. Where do you live?
